倪元璐（公元一五九三－一六四四年），字汝玉，号鸿宝，又号园客，浙江上虞人。天启二年进士，官户礼部尚书。倪氏性情直行不阿，为世所重，崇祯十七年（一六四四）明亡，遂以身殉国。 倪氏书法灵秀神妙，行草尤极超逸。此轴草书自作七言诗描写山水清幽，若虚若幻的境界，是晚年所书，下笔时墨色浓重，收笔时已枯竭，而锋势转为艰涩，富于苍劲的美感。此幅为台静农先生捐赠。 |
| 内容简介（英文） | Ni Yuan-lu, a native of Shang-yu, Chekiang, was a Presented Scholar (chin-shih) of 1622. He advanced to the post of Minister of Revenue and Rites. Upright by character, he was loyal to the end–with the fall of the Ming in 1644, he committed suicide for his dynasty. Ni’s calligraphy is known for its spirit and elegance, his semi-cursive especially free and natural. This scroll of cursive script is of his own 7-character verse describing a secluded landscape, a realm at times empty and at others illusory. A work of his late years, the ink is dark where the brush set down and dry by the time he lifted it. The momentum of the brush edge when turning is quite intricate, rich in the beauty of its strength. This work was donated by Mr. T’ai Chin-nung. |
