内容简介(中文) 沈荃(公元一六二四-一六八四年),江苏华亭(今上海市)人,字贞蕤,号绎堂,别号充斋,顺治进士,官至礼部侍郎,工诗善书,学行醇洁。
沈荃书法初学董其昌,晚岁得力于米芾甚深。他曾于圣祖朝奉召入宫,与皇帝谈论古今书法。他的书风充份反映出「康雍之世,专仿香光」的现象,此幅仿颜字便深受董其昌影响,虽然前人批评他学董而乏其气韵,但楷书功力,仍有可观处。
内容简介(英文) Shen Ch’uan was a native of Hua-t’ing (modern Shanghai). A chin-shih degree holder, he went on to serve in the Ministry of Rites. He was a lofty scholar gifted at poetry and excelling at calligraphy.
Shen’s style initially followed Tung Ch’i-ch’ang’s, but in later years was greatly influenced by Mi Fu’s. Much admired for his calligraphy, Shen was even ordered to the palace to discuss calligraphy with the emperor. His style reflects the tendency of the time to imitate older manners. This work imitates the Yen Chen-ch’ing style but also is strongly influenced by that of Tung Ch’i-ch’ang. Although criticized for capturing the appearance but not the spirit of Tung’s style, Shen’s achievements in standard script are still quite impressive.

内容简介(英文) Shen Quan (style name Zhenrui, sobriquets Yitang, Chongzhai), a native of Huating in Jiangsu (modern Shanghai), became a Presented Scholar in 1652 and served up to Attendant Gentleman in the Ministry of Rites. A lofty scholar gifted at poetry and excelling at calligraphy, Shen’s style initially followed Dong Qichang’s but in later years was greatly influenced by Mi Fu’s. Much admired in calligraphy, Shen even went to the palace to discuss calligraphy with the Kangxi Emperor. His style reflects the trend then of imitating Dong Qichang. This work follows Yan Zhenqing’s style but also is much influenced by Dong’s. Though criticized for capturing the form but not the spirit of Dong’s style, Shen’s standard script is still quite impressive.(20120104)
